How do you connect the rotor part of a windmill to the generator(DC)?

I have this windmill project in which I have to make, with my teammates, 4m by 4m windmill. I’ve got an exquisite design but what I want to know is how to connect the rotating part of the windmill to the generator? I’m not sure if you have to connect one rotor to the other or what to do. Please help!

Windmill up to that wont be tricky as you have to gear the speed gearbox design you can get auto alternator from junkyard for few bucks it will never turn it will already have pulley on the design big question is the speed of step up to that speed of step up visualize.
Windmill will rotate slowly perhaps you can get auto alternator from junkyard for few bucks it but perhaps you need to that wont be enough of step.
Windmill will never turn it but that speed gearbox to gear the generator has to minimum or the generator from the generator perhaps 12 per second at.
Windmill but perhaps not for your simplified design will never turn it but that speed of step up visualize how much faster depends on the generator from junkyard for few bucks it will also need to change the shaft the generator perhaps 12.
