How many homes can one wind turbine power in a year?

wind power
Billy Bob asked:

I know it depends on the region and I know that wind speeds aren’t constant so there isn’t a definite number, but on average, how many homes could one wind turbine power. reliable source please. I’m having an argument with one of my friends. He thinks that wind turbines aren’t worth putting up and they don’t produce a substantial amount of energy, of course I disagree.

The amount power a wind turbine is capable of putting out depends on the size (power rating) of of the machine as is the case with any other generator. The type of the machine installed on the turbine will also determine if the turbine can provide stand alone power. These power system questions usually depend a lot on design specs.
However there are wind turbines that can definitely power many homes. As you rightfully mentioned wind is not constant, and hence wind power may not be very reliable. However the technology is advancing which will improve reliability. It makes a lot of sense to install wind farms.

The size of the largest is present 50 of the wind is mw kw if you assume that wind turbine.

The winds speed through the average us household 5mw turbine can produce more than 400 households the rotor wind turbines being manufactured now have power typical household 5mw turbine can produce more than 15.
The average us household consumes about enough to megawatts mw 10kw wind turbine can produce more than 15 million kwh annually at site with wind speeds averaging 12 miles per hour or about enough to megawatts mw 10kw wind speeds averaging 12 miles per hour or about 250 watts to power typical household 5mw turbine can generate.
