With people being enlightened about the fact that their electricity bill is going too high, they are looking for alternate sources of energy that can help them in this regard. What can suit this situation better than homemade wind power? The main idea here is to use the energy of the wind which is a renewable resource that can never get depleted and convert it into electricity.

This simple ideology of homemade wind power is made even easier to be adopted with the availability of several instruction manuals that gives you detailed information about the setting up of such instruments.

You need to first understand the science that is behind the generation of homemade wind power. The power of the wind rotates the blades of your windmill and this mechanical energy is converted to electricity. In pure science terms, this is termed as conservation of energy.

There is a false notion that there is a necessity for large amounts of wind to make this plan successful. The fact is that even small amounts of wind that we can find around our farmhouses are more than sufficient to generate homemade wind power.

You will need components like a rotating platform, turbine blades and electrical systems for making a complete homemade wind power generator. These are not so difficult to find. If you look around your home, you can be sure of finding most of these components and even if you don’t these are available at the nearest hardware store and the entire construction and setting up will fall much cheaper than finding a pre fabricated one.

This requires plenty of planning and this is the most important field. First of all you need to decide on how much electricity you require for your home. This can be found out very easily as all you need to do is inspect your electricity bills. Then you need to fix on a good location for the windmill.

These days everyone is doing their best to help the environment. It can be recycling it can be using less water; however a great way to help the environment is to take advantage of using wind power.

Wind power is a natural resource that we can take advantage of to produce energy for our homes. There are a lot of manufactures that you can go to that you can purchase a wind turbine from. Before you purchase one you must keep in mind where you live and your specific needs.

Abundant Renewable energy is a company that produces very strong wind generators. Their machines have been installed in large areas to produce energy and are basically designed for harsher climates. Bergey Wind Power is another manufacture that has a highly reliable wind energy system with ratings up to 10 kW. This company has earned a worldwide reputation for ruggedness and reliability. They also incorporate some of the most advanced technology in the industry.

Gaia Wind Manufactures is a company that thrives in building small and efficient wind turbines for private homes, farms, rural areas and light commercial or industrial facilities. Still talking about small turbines, Proven Energy is the world’s leading supplier of small scale wind turbines and is globally renowned for their turbine performance.

However, instead of spending hundreds and in some situations thousands of dollars on a wind turbine, you could always build one yourself. Taking the time to build one yourself could be fun and will save you a lot of money in the long run.  Instead of paying $10,000 on a wind turbine you could spend maybe 100 dollars if you build your own. Just like everything in life you must do what is the best thing for you. So you can either purchase one from one of the many manufacturers or you can just build one on your own.

With the increased interest in the last few years in renewable forms of energy, wind powered generators are gaining popularity. They offer a lot of advantages over solar alternatives and are very attractive economically as well. If you are considering adding a solution to your home to replace or augment your power, wind powered generators are a great place to start. There are several options available to the homeowner these days to help out with the rising cost of electricity.

Solar panels seem the most obvious, but compared to wind generated power, they may fall short. One of the main problems with solar panels is that even under the best conditions they only generate power for a fairly small portion of a 24 hour daily cycle. This means that during the evening, and on cloudy days you are relying completely on your local power company to supply your electricity.

On the other hand a wind powered generator will operate continuously as long as the wind is blowing. And if you mount the unit on a high enough tower, it is likely to catch a minimum of wind most of the time. Also, the cost of solar panels can be very expensive compared to the cost of a wind powered generator. Solar panels are usually bought pre-made and have to be installed by a professional in groups to generate a decent amount of power. Wind generators can be installed as a single unit, and even a small one can generate between 1000 and 2000 watts of power. This is equivalent to an average output of 10 to 20 solar panels on a sunny day.

Also, there are a lot of plans available on the web to help you actually build your own wind generator from readily available parts, further lowering the cost. Another advantage that wind powered generators have over solar panels is that they can be used by any homeowner in any location. For solar panels to be effective, you need to have a large flat area that faces true south. If the back roof of your house (the most cosmetically appealing place to install solar panels) faces north, you’re out of luck.

The Wind turbine is installed on a pivot and will catch the wind no matter which direction it is blowing. Lastly, a wind powered generator is mounted away from the house on a free-standing tower. This is nice because it doesn’t require you to modify the house in any way to use it. Solar panels are mounted on the rood and in some cases require bracing in the attic for the added weight and always present the hazard of your roof leaking from the installation. All things considered, if you’re looking for an attractive alternative energy generation scheme, wind powered generators might be perfect for you.

When thinking about wind power, there are several advantages and disadvantages that can sway you to either use or not use it. Some of the advantages of wind power include that it’s a natural resource therefore making it free and friendly to the environment not harming or depleting the ozone layer. No fossil fuels have to be burned so that we may generate electricity.

Because of the fact that wind turbines only take up a few meters of space, they are a lot better for space compared to power plants leaving more room for the environment and agriculture or for the land to be used for other purposes. Win turbines are also a better resource to use in remote locations like the mountains or the country side. They can come in many different sizes so that they may accommodate different levels of population.

Finally another great thing about wind power is that you can combine it with solar power and upon doing this they can be a source of energy for developed and developing countries. Now as stated above although wind power has many advantages it also has several disadvantages. Such as wind power is unreliable, you’re never sure just exactly how much power you are going to get therefore making solar energy a better alternative sometimes. The construction of a wind turbine can last a long time about a year to be exact and can be quite costly. One of the biggest disadvantages is the fact that they create a lot of noise which is fine if u live a few miles away but not so good if you’re closer to the turbine.

So altogether there are many advantages and disadvantages to whether or not wind turbines are truly effective mechanisms to use to create energy
